Vision Predator Reel

The perfect fly reel for Predator fly rods.

Predator reels are made to perfectly accommodate the Vision Merisuola Predator fly rods, but they're easy to recommend for other rods too. Built on the tried and true Vision XO reel platform.

The 89 is the ideal size reel for heavier single hand rods and Switch rods. With thin backing and monofilament running line it has enough capacity even for smaller double handers. The brake system is a slightly tamed version of the bigger and more brutal 910 & 1012 reels allowing us to make the ideal weight reel for the purpose with maximum stopping power. The reel’s frame and spool are machined elegantly thin for weight reduction but the “wine glass look” construction itself makes this reel super rigid.

The reels are fused with a bomb proof & powerful brake. The brake mechanism has been used for over 20 years with countless huge fish under its belt. Proven brake mechanism is sealed even better than in its predecessors. These bigger reels are aimed for heavy predator and saltwater use. The brake power increases very linearly within 2.5 rotations, giving you an impressive 8 kg (17.6 lbs) of maximum force. The waterproofing utilizes axle seals from German Ina and all bearings are from Japan.

Guide Recommendations - The 8/9 is right in the wheel house for most 10 wt. Musky fly rod applications and the 9/10 is at home on a 12 wt. Musky fly rod. If using for salmon, saltwater, or other species that'll get you into your backing, you'll want to match reel size more directly (e.g., the 8/9 on an 8 or 9 wt., etc.).
